ULISSE IN SICILIA
Who hasn't stopped to dream with an open book on the desk, the journey of Ulysses, his fantastic wanderings in unknown lands, among monsters and women of unspeakable beauty, sometimes sorceresses like Circe or wicked enchantresses like the deceptive sirens. And in sailing the Mediterranean Ulysses touches Sicily several times. After all, Sicily is a land of myths and legends and certainly, the best known are those that appear in the pages of the Odyssey and we, following in the footsteps of Ulysses, will discover their origins with the modern eye of surprising experts.
A documentary or rather a sort of docufiction where a young student struggling with her degree thesis on Ulysses' itinerary in Sicily will be the common thread to move us through these places that still exude magic and mystery.
The young researcher will therefore investigate the various hypotheses of Homeric geography and the birth of myths such as the Cyclopes, the Sirens, Scylla and Charybdis, the herds of Helios, Aeolus king of the winds who lives in the Aeolian Islands, the cannibals Lestrigoni in the Lentini plain.

A strong story of progress and conquest. History that made women in the mines, courageous women, daring women who in an amazing way were able to carry on a fight that helped pave the way for today's women.
Due to its social importance, this project obtained the contribution of the Sardinia Region and will be filmed in the locations and mines where the presence and work of women was strongest and most relevant.

Sardinia, with its cultural heritage rich in myths, legends, habits and customs of sacred and profane origins, has always based its social organization on the family. In the peasant and pastoral world, family models, including matriarchal ones, have developed. Starting from these reflections and from the characteristics that distinguish the Sardinian family compared to the rest of the country, a documentary film journey is born that investigates the structure and organization of the Sardinian family of yesterday and today, comparing three generations of Sardinian couples of completely different ages who can tell and make people understand what it represented, how it was organized and how people lived in the Sardinian family of the past and how it has transformed in the contemporary era, trying to bring out the cultural and social differences that arose over the course of time (some irreversible), but also the common thread that still binds them.

Symbol of fascist Italy, champion of speed in the Atlantic crossing, the ship that revolutionized the way of traveling by sea, paving the way for the modern concept of cruising. A story investigated through direct testimonies, the stories of experts and enthusiasts to reconstruct the history and legend around the short life of the ship, from the first voyage in 1932 to the sinking at the hands of the allies in 1944, and the echo of its myth that still emerges in Italian industry and customs.

LA TELA
Art requires concentration, almost always solitude. For the painter Salvatore Garau the latter is an indispensable condition that he decides to question by bringing a large white canvas (two by five metres) inside the High Security Penitentiary Institute of Massama-Oristano. The idea is not to teach prisoners to paint, but to share their creative energy with those who are not used to creative freedom, with those who are not free. In front of the canvas the inmates are given the opportunity to release themselves and generate wonder. The documentary film traces the challenge, the amazement, the birth and growth of a project that demonstrates the power of art and words. The color that makes even bare and dull places vibrate.

SOUTHEAST ASIAN CINEMA
Southeast Asian Cinema. When the Rooster Crows is a voice of diversity seeking change. Brillante Mendoza, Eric Khoo, Garin Nugroho, Pen Ek Ratanaruang give voice to a region rich in traditions, ethnic groups, languages, political systems and religions. His cinema, in its purest form, fights for freedom of expression, documenting the lives of ordinary people, giving voice to the marginalized and outcasts. The fusion of these aspects gave birth to this region and to a currently unique "ultraneorealist" cinematic language. Each director, in his own words, candidly shared his experience of working and producing independently, each breaking barriers and challenging the norms.
They discuss the problem of censorship, both state and self-imposed, and how to deal with it. Most of their works are both a reflection and a criticism of the contemporary society of their country, from the defense of culture to fundamentalism, from social malaise to ethnic differences. They reflect on the future of the region and the prospect of working together.

LANDO BUZZANCA
UNO NESSUNO CENTOMILA
Lando Buzzanca, has spanned from as far back as 1959, with a small part in William Wyler's Ben Hur, the entire output of Italian industrial cinema. More than 150 films have represented in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s a large part of sexy comedy, creating a very large audience of aficionados all over the world. Lando Buzzanca, however, was not the comedian with the sidekick, but a well-rounded actor who worked, in those very years, with such authors as: Pietro Germi, Alberto Lattuada, Antonio Pietrangeli, Pasquale Festa Campanile, Luciano Salce, and Luigi Magni. He starred in at least a dozen films that evaded the boundaries of the genre. "Lando Buzzanca. Uno Nessuno Centomila" traces through the entertaining testimony of himself, repertory material from the Istituto Luce, the participation of Tatti Sanguineti and the interventions of directors, actors and journalists who have crossed his activity, this bumpy but extraordinary path that led him, later, to the theater of Eduardo, Pirandello, Molière, Shakespeare, and to famous radio and television series.

SUL VULCANO
Maria, Matteo e Yole: tre vite ai piedi del Vesuvio, in un luogo unico al mondo, ricco di miti, storia ed evocazioni letterarie.
Maria, che vive e lavora in un'azienda florovivaistica ai piedi di una villa vesuviana in abbandono, "coltiva" anche le proprie curiosità intellettuali ed è una custode discreta del vulcano.
Matteo, pittore di talento, rimette in gioco le sue opere fatte con la lava, testimonianza di un legame profondo con la terra da cui non si è mai staccato. Yole, cantante "neomelodica", vive la propria libertà di giovane donna conciliandola con un'autentica devozione per la Madonna, espressione popolare di un sacro che ha sempre caratterizzato il Vesuvio, da Dioniso/Bacco a San Gennaro.
E se il proverbiale fatalismo partenopeo, dietro cui vive ancora oggi una diffusa devozione religiosa, derivasse proprio dalla presenza del vulcano, che per ben due millenni ha dato e preso alla gente che vive sotto di lui?

TREM DE UTOPIA
Che ne sanno i figli e i nipoti degli immigrati italiani dell’Italia da cui se ne andavano i loro nonni? Cosa può imparare il Brasile dall’Italia dell’Unità e del Fascismo? La dignità è un motivo per cui combattere, resistere, o andarsene?
Queste sono le domande principali a cui questo film tenta di rispondere facendo un viaggio in un posto che non esiste, alla scoperta dell’Italia rivelata a un brasiliano che sta cercando di prenderne la cittadinanza, anche perché in fin dei conti è la patria di suo padre.
«Cerco un paese innocente» diceva Giuseppe Ungaretti, e così investighiamo sulla memoria nazionale di paesi (Italia e Brasile) che non hanno un rapporto limpido con il proprio passato recente. Alla fine di questo film troviamo così delle donne e degli uomini che riescono a rimanere umani, in questo mondo. E scopriamo che la dignità è anche qualcosa per cui morire. E questo ci basta.

IL SOL DELL' AVVENIRE
Reggio Emilia, 1969. Un gruppo di ragazzi abbandona la locale Federazione giovanile comunista, per dar vita, insieme ad altri coetanei di provenienza anarchica, socialista, cattolica, all'Appartamento, una comune sessantottina che insegue il sogno rivoluzionario e che vede nel partito comunista al governo della città, il tradimento degli ideali partigiani e antifascisti appartenuti ai loro padri e nonni durante e dopo la seconda guerra mondiale. Dall'esperienza dell'Appartamento, di lì a due anni, usciranno alcuni tra i più duri brigatisti rossi degli "anni di piombo": Alberto Franceschini, Tonino Loris Paroli, Roberto Ognibene, Prospero Gallinari, Renato Azzolini. Reggio Emilia, autunno 2007. Alcuni dei "ragazzi del 1969" si ritrovano dopo quasi 40 anni nello stesso luogo, un ristorante sulle colline, dove il gruppo dell'Appartamento compì il salto tragico e fatale nella lotta armata. Seduti intorno a un tavolo, con rievocazioni a tratti drammatiche, Franceschini, Paroli e Ognibene (tre ex brigatisti tornati alla vita normale dopo una lunga detenzione nelle prigioni di mezza Italia) insieme a Paolo Rozzi e Annibale Viappiani (che non aderirono alle Brigate rosse, e oggi sono impegnati il primo nel Partito Democratico, il secondo nel sindacato ) ripercorrono una sorta di viaggio a ritroso, alla ricerca delle motivazioni più profonde delle rispettive scelte. A integrare le ricostruzioni dei cinque protagonisti, due testimoni davvero sorprendenti, che in vario modo e a vario titolo parteciparono alla esperienza dell'Appartamento: Corrado Corghi, ex dirigente della Democrazia Cristiana ed esponente del cattolicesimo del dissenso, e Adelmo Cervi, figlio di Aldo, uno dei sette fratelli comunisti trucidati dai nazifascisti nel '43.

THROUGH KOREAN CINEMA
Il documentario ripercorre la storia del cinema sud coreano attraverso la testimonianza dei cinque registi più rappresentativi: Im Kwon-taek, Park Kwang-Su, Lee Myung-se, Lee Chang-dong, Park Chan-wook. Un viaggio cronologico nella storia degli eventi e della tradizione coreana: l'invasione giapponese, la guerra delle due Coree, lo sviluppo economico, le censure, le repressioni politiche, i sogni, le realtà, la violenza e l'eccesso nel cinema d'autore. Tutto questo per raccontare un popolo e la sua storia, la Corea del Sud fino ai nostri giorni. Ogni regista intervistato segna una tappa significativa di questo percorso, lasciando come testimonianza i propri film. Cinque personaggi chiave per capire il cinema coreano di oggi. Ognuno di loro racconta le sue avventure e disavventure, la difficoltà di fare il proprio cinema. Le immagini dei loro film ci guidano in questo viaggio, descrivendo e animando i pensieri e le riflessioni dei nostri registi sul loro paese.

LA BALENA DI ROSSELLINI
La Balena di Rossellini nasce da uno dei più suggestivi sogni di Roberto Rossellini, un progetto esemplare nel suo percorso d'autore. Il film ideato, e mai realizzato, da Rossellini prese forma nei suoi appunti dopo un viaggio in Cile effettuato nel maggio del 1971, viaggio intrapreso per realizzare un'intervista-ritratto di Salvador Allende, poi effettivamente compiuta dal regista di "Roma città aperta". E' il 28 ottobre 1971, Rossellini, tornato da Santiago del Cile, legge su un quotidiano la notizia di una balena arenata sulla costa del Pacifico nei pressi di un villaggio poverissimo abitato da pescatori. Da questo semplice fatto di cronaca, nasce un soggetto cinematografico per un apologo sulla ricchezza e sulla povertà. Un film le cui riprese Rossellini avrebbe voluto affidare al giovanissimo allievo Claudio Bondì, appena diplomato al Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.

EBREI A ROMA
La Comunità ebraica di Roma, la più antica del mondo occidentale, raccontata attraverso tre testimoni che rappresentano altrettante generazioni: David, Giovanni e Michela. L'anziano e indomito David anni fa è stato il braccio destro dell'ex Rabbino Capo Elio Toaff e, grazie all'attività commerciale di cui rappresenta la settima generazione, conosce molto bene la sua Roma, a cui guarda con sorniona laicità . Giovanni, che ha quarant'anni, ha deciso di investire sull'enogastronomia ebraica e, come altri suoi coetanei, coltiva un forte sentimento religioso, in cui il mangiare kosher, cioè conforme alle leggi di Dio, come il rispetto dello shabat e delle festività ebraiche, divengono anche riscoperta identitaria. Michela, madre trentenne, è guida turistica nel Ghetto di Roma, nel quale accompagna, non senza umorismo, i turisti stranieri, lungo un itinerario in cui scorrono le vicende drammatiche dei giudei de Roma, dalle persecuzioni dei papi alla Shoà . Ma anzitutto in queste tre persone c'è l'orgoglio di rappresentare un pezzo di cultura ebraica nel cuore di Roma.

silenzioso, che amava l'abbraccio ampio e caloroso della sala forse anche perché risarciva le sue private solitudini"; un uomo diffidente, che aveva paura di attraversare una piazza o di entrare in un bar, timoroso di ritrovarsi al centro di una molteplicità di sguardi, sconosciuti e indagatori.
C'era una volta "un regista all'antica", che possedeva una morale conservatrice del lavoro cinematografico, non un regista legato alle regole ma ad un professionismo scrupoloso, un sapiente artigiano del linguaggio delle immagini, rispettoso dei desideri del pubblico e fiducioso nella "comunicazione con le masse". Un regista che non stimò mai molto la critica ma che si cimentò, con passione, in un cinema "invidiabile", e non solo perché non ne esiste più l'eguale.

Il documentario racconta la storia di vita di Don Roberto Sardelli e le vicende straordinarie della scuola 725, che egli fondò nel 1968 a Roma tra i baraccati dell' "Acquedotto Felice". Il prete andò a vivere in quel luogo di emarginazione condividendo problemi e speranze della periferia romana. Oggi, Don Roberto ha deciso di rincontrare i suoi ex-allievi per scrivere, come allora, una lettera al sindaco di Roma, denunciando le nuove povertà e le nuove ingiustizie. L'incontro sarà l'occasione per riflettere sul significato dei cambiamenti avvenuti durante trent'anni della nostra storia

LO ZUCCO
morire in una terra di provincia nel profondo Sud dell'Italia? Una splendida tenuta, un vino: lo Zucco. Il Duca d'Aumale era il figlio di Luigi Filippo, il primo Re "borghese", chiamato Re dei Francesi. Fu esiliato dalla sua amata Francia e ritrovò in Sicilia la terra dove applicare i precetti "agricoli" di Virgilio, autore amato anche dal suo precettore Cuvilliere-Fleury con cui ebbe una corrispondenza che durò tutta la vita, e che testimonia il suo amore per i libri, le opere d'arte e il vino. Il vino dello Zucco che diventò famoso per la sua purezza rispetto ai Madera che si bevevano a quel tempo, fu prodotto dal Duca in uno stabilimento all'avanguardia che impiegò gran parte della popolazione di Montelepre. Oggi il vino dello Zucco non viene più prodotto ma ha lasciato delle memorie indelebili tra il Castello di Chantilly in Francia e il Feudo dello Zucco in provincia di Palermo. Pietro ha ereditato da suo padre un pezzo della vecchia tenuta dello Zucco, vi è cresciuto ascoltando le leggende sul Duca raccontate dai vecchi contadini. Pietro è un agrumicoltore biologico, ma un giorno sentirà una voce che, forse, cambierà la sua vita...
